Oh, what a great weekend! I hope yours was great, too! Thank you to everyone who joined Finish It Friday this week. If you’re playing along at home, be sure to comment next time! It really is motivating to share your plans.
Okay, here’s my update:
Finish getting ready for my trip to L.A. next weekend. I finished the big hitters. I still need to pack, but I’ll do that later this week.
Finish laundry. Finished!
List at least one item on Craig’s list.Okay, I decided to change directions a bit. Since I’m going out of town so soon, I didn’t want to list something and then leave Jay to deal with it while I’m away. So, instead of listing something on Craig's List, I spent some time with Kailea going through stuffed animals, and straightening up a couple of her toy bins. She let go of 20 stuffed animals which is a huge victory! (Not to worry, she still has plenty.) But now they aren’t overflowing into an extra bin in the basement. That bin is gone, and all her stuffed friends fit in her room again. A bag of stuffed animals went to Goodwill—so something left the house which is a big hooray!
(Start) and finish cleaning the house. Check!
Help with Science Fair project. The experiment is done, and all the data has been collected. Hooray!
Clean out freezer. This wasn’t on the original list…but it definitely qualifies as a F.I.F. item.
Move bookcase into basement family room and organize contents.Another add-on project, all caused by cute, polka-dotted canvas bins and pillows from Target. Yay!
In addition to the Finish It Friday list, we also enjoyed the NFL games yesterday. My son is a big-time Colts fan, and the rest of us seem to have caught Colts Fever, too. So hooray!
Okay, so how did you do this weekend? I can’t wait to hear! Have a great Monday.
I finished sending Christmas letters/pictures (started in July with a family photo!) + thank you notes...how relieved I am they are finally out of the house!
Also got frame for picture to hang and helped a friend get her home organized before baby #3 comes. Oh, and worked on convincing her to take your Organize Your Paper Clutter class!

I worked on my disaster of a sewing room. It's actually a happy place now. I finally unpacked all of the bins from when we moved here 6 months ago. :)
Love the new green bin. Adorable!

Here's how I did;
1. Organise papers into new storage cabinet: done
2. Write notes for meetings: done
3. Make 4 baby cards, 2 birthday cards and 1 pregnancy card: all but pregnancy one done
4. Make cartons for cards: done
5. Receipts for accountant (yawn!) but I did start last week so I do need to finish: just about done
6. Drink 6 glasses of water a day (need to keep this one on the list, I did well last weekend because I did F.I.F but never did it in the week!): made it to about 4!
All in all, quite a bit accomplished. More than if I hadn't joined in on the challenge, that's for sure!

Get Holiday decorations taken down and put away (in-laws have now seen them). Seven lit trees taken down, packed up and stored in their places. Decorations are all taken down and put away. Even the outside lights are down and packed away. I really enjoyed the holiday season, but am glad its all put away.
Spend time with MIL and FIL before they head back to Florida. We had a wonderful 10 day visit with the in-laws. MIL is doing much better health-wise at the end of this visit than she was when they arrived. The pre-planning for the visit helped out so much (dinners prepared and frozen so they only needed to be thawed).
Entertain family members who will be coming by to visit before the in-laws leave. Various nephews, nieces, and sister-in-law stopped by over the course of the weekend. I was glad the meals we froze ahead of time were "over-sized" so there was plenty for everyone when we had extra folks for each meal.
Keep the house tidy. This kept me busy throughout the weekend, but by keeping things tidy, it helped encourage MIL to take it easy and stay off her feet. (She is having a slow recovery from a broken hip last summer, due to doing too much at home, this visit was a chance to force her to do some recovering)
Finish scrapbooking project MIL brought with her. We had a grand time putting together over 30 layouts from the trip my in-laws took to Australia 5 years ago for their 50th anniversary. They had fun reminiscing over the photos, and we got a good start on scrapping the pictures (they have over 1800 photos and getting it narrowed down to a manageable number to start was a challenge).
To be fair to myself....this weekend actually wraps up my 2009 Holiday season.
We took the in-laws to the airport Tuesday morning, and other than one load of laundry (including their bed linens), my household is back to normal. Staying on top of things throughout their visit was not difficult thanks to the organizing I had done this Fall through Simplify 101, and I'm now ready to dive into the Big Picture Scrapbooking Library of Memories Class. This week I'll get back to organizing 30+ years of photos, so I can work on my own scrapbooking projects.
